Italeri DUKW 2½ GMC – D-Day (1:35)

To fulfill logistical needs of the U.S. Armed Forces in efficiently transporting cargo from ships to beaches, the U.S. General Motor CCKW-353 2½ t 6×6 amphibious truck was designed and built. It featured the same basic components as the GMC road truck, including a 4,400 cm³ 6-cylinder engine, three differentials and six driven wheels. The amphibious adaptation of the DUKW included a welded hull reinforced with horizontal ribs. The DUKW was very versatile and could carry up to 2,400 kg of cargo or 25 fully equipped soldiers. This vehicle was widely used by American and Allied forces during various war missions, including major landings at Normandy, Salerno, Anzio and Pacific campaigns.
