Italeri Sd. Kfz. 10 Demag D7 with IeIG 18 and Crew (1:35)
A popular vehicle widely used by German forces during World War II was the Sd.Kfz 10 Demag D7 half-track tractor. It was used on several fronts, from the invasion of Poland to North Africa to Russia. The Demag D7 was developed specifically as a trigger for small artillery such as anti-aircraft guns and anti-tank guns. In addition to towing guns or trailers, this vehicle could also carry eight fully equipped soldiers. With a powerful 4.2-liter Maybach 6-cylinder engine at the front that produced 99 horsepower, the half-track could reach speeds of up to 65 mph and performed well both on roads and off-road. Known for its reliability and versatility, the vehicle was produced in large numbers and variants. The light howitzer Le. IG 18 was designed specifically for artillery support within infantry companies. This reliable and accurate howitzer was usually towed by DEMAG or Protze tractors. During the war, the Le. IG 18 often replaced by more powerful and lighter mortars because of their improved performance on the battlefield.
