Teching Turbocharge 4-cylinder Engine DM111

Before the invention of the turbocharger, forced induction was performed with mechanically driven superchargers. The concept of supercharging began in 1878 with Dugald Clerk’s two-stroke gas engines. In 1885, Gottlieb Daimler patented an air compression method for internal combustion engines. Alfred Büchi’s 1905 patent is considered the beginning of the turbocharger, intended to compensate for power loss in high-altitude aircraft engines. Although the first prototype in 1915 was unreliable, work by NACA and Sanford Moss led to successful applications in 1917. The first commercial application of a turbocharger occurred in 1924 by Brown, Boveri & Cie for the marine industry. During World War II, turbochargers were used on various aircraft such as the Boeing B-17. The first turbocharged trucks were developed by Switzerland’s Saurer in the 1930s. In the 1950s, car manufacturers explored turbocharged engines, with the first models being the Chevrolet Corvair Monza and Oldsmobile Jetfire in 1962. Starting in the 1980s, the use of turbochargers became more popular in passenger cars to improve the performance of smaller engines.

The Teching Turbocharge 4-cylinder Engine DM111 is a precision crafted mechanical model made from oxidized aluminum alloys via CNC processes.
