What kinds of puzzles are there?
Puzzle making has been done for hundreds of years and is still a very popular activity. So you can do it as a quiet pastime on your own, or you can do it with the family around a table in the living room. Actually, you can never get tired of making puzzles because they come in all different shapes with different images and levels. We have listed some types of puzzles below.
The traditional jigsaw puzzle
The most famous puzzle is also the jigsaw puzzle. Almost everyone has made a jigsaw puzzle at one time or another. This is a flat puzzle that comes in all shapes and sizes. Age levels may play a role in difficulty, for example. Therefore, puzzles for children usually consist of few pieces and puzzles for adults quickly average 1000 pieces and can go much further!
If you have never really made a puzzle before, it is recommended that you start with a puzzle by Jan van Haasteren, for example. These are often puzzles of funny and well-detailed images that can range from 500 to 3,000 pieces. So if you have just started doing puzzles, it is recommended that you start with a 500-piece puzzle. The reason why we recommend Jan van Haasteren puzzles is because these puzzles often have a lot of color, which makes puzzles easy to put together. Ravensburger, besides Jan van Haasteren, is another example of a puzzle maker who display a lot of details in their puzzles.
Feel like you want a challenging puzzle after these slightly easier ones? Then choose a gradient puzzle. A gradient puzzle uses colors in a different way. In fact, there is a bit more of a transition from color to color unlike the Jan van Haasteren puzzles. The gradient puzzles are still for beginners in that you can easily sort the pieces by color.
3D puzzles
When you think of puzzles, you quickly think of flat jigsaw puzzles. But on the other hand, you have puzzles that you can make in 3D format. This gives another whole different experience. People often choose a 3D puzzle if they want something more challenging than a regular jigsaw puzzle. Therefore, a 3D puzzle can really come in many different forms. There are 3D puzzles that are in the shape of a certain part from a famous movie, a famous building or it can be in the shape of a planet in the solar system, it can really be anything. The nice thing about such a 3D puzzle is that you can put the puzzle as a design in your room when you finish it.
Most challenging puzzles
If you are a person who is very experienced with puzzles and now want to take the real step to a difficult level puzzle there are several choices for that. For example, there is always the option of a puzzle with 10,000 pieces, but that’s not all. There are also puzzles that do not have corner pieces, which immediately makes puzzling a lot more difficult. After all, when you start a puzzle, you often look for the corner pieces first, but when they are not there it makes things different right away. Consider puzzles that are round or have a special shape. The moment you don’t know where to start, making a 1,000-piece puzzle is a whole lot harder.
Finally, you have a puzzle that is a challenge for even the most experienced puzzlers. This is a puzzle that has corners, but is completely white. Because of this, you will not be able to pay attention to the colors, so you have to look only at the shape of the pieces.
