Italeri Willys MB Jeep with Trailer (1:35)
In the early 1940s, the U.S. General Staff asked several manufacturers to design a compact, four-wheel-drive vehicle because of the war situation. Several companies, including the American Bantam Company, Willys Overland and Ford Motor Co. competed. The preferred design was Willys, which went into mass production from early 1941 and eventually produced 640,000, of which Ford manufactured 277,000 units under license. This made the Jeep the most manufactured light vehicle of the war industry during World War II.
