iYoYo Sunrise

The iYoYo SUNRiSE is based on the shape of the YoYoFactory Loop 720, but with modified spacers. The game is super controllable and at the end of the string it jumps lightly. It plays much faster than you would expect and has excellent spin, long enough for any combo I can think of.

How this yoyo came to be? iYOYO owner Dave Geiglei: With iYoYo, I have almost everything you can think of in terms of yoyos – from plastic for beginners to custom bearings, strings, pads, holders, bags. Even high-end bi-tanium yoyos. Really almost everything. One thing bothered me: I didn’t have a 2A yo-yo in my lineup. As a passionate 2A player, this always felt wrong. And it’s not that we didn’t try. I had milled a few different samples, even came up with a way to make stars because investing ~15,000 USD in a mold and the first line of would not be feasible as a smaller brand.

None of the prototypes played the way I wanted them to. Sometimes, however, life can consist of funny coincidences. During Worlds 2018, I sat with employee, Ben McPheebij, at breakfast. Then I got an email from my old yoyo jam friend, mentor and fellow Sunset-Signature-Partner Bill de Boisblanc. He had hand-machined some spacers so that the yoyojam Sunset bearings would fit in a Loop720 and suggested that I try to make them. Ben thought the idea was worth picking up. A year later, I can proudly present to you a few prototypes later: The SUNRiSE!

I am more than happy to finally cross ‘Make a great 2A yoyo’ off my wish list, and I am very curious to hear what the players have to say about The SUNRiSE!
